Academic Information

Curriculum Highlights

Westside Catholic Preschool offers a developmentally age appropriate curriculum for children, ages 3-5, with daycare also available. Westside Catholic's K-8 curriculum meets the requirements of the State of Indiana and the Diocese of Evansville. The basic program is enriched by programs such as DARE, Young Authors, The Stock Market Game, Newspaper in Education, music programs, science fairs, Spelling and Geography Bees, Accelerated Reader and liturgical religious celebrations. Computer labs, along with computers in the classrooms, allow students to integrate technology into the learning process. Students are encouraged to participate in service projects sponsored by the school.

ISTEP

At Westside Catholic, we strive to maintain a balanced curriculum that reflects the importance of the basics as well as integrates new trends in education. We take our state testing program, ISTEP, seriously without making it the only goal of the educational process. Each teacher reviews the expected performances for his/her grade level and provides instruction, practice, and review to foster each student's best performance when ISTEP evaluation occurs in the fall each year.

Spiritual Growth

The Religion program at Westside Catholic is central to our school's curriculum. As stated, in our philosophy, our goal is to lead students to a fuller Christian lifestyle. Provided in addition to the basic religion program are sacramental preparation, opportunity to attend liturgy, prayer and penance services.

Each campus celebrates mass once a week. During the school year there are several times where all the children come together to attend mass. The picture to the left is the celebration held on the Sacred Heart campus.
